Cosplaying with an insulin pump

Hey guys!
So, as I mentioned in my last post, I want to talk about cosplaying with an insulin pump. Now as you may or may not know, I am a type 1 (or juvenile) diabetic. Meaning I have to take insulin. I used to be on the 'pen needles' like the one below;

Actually, I had that exact one when I was first diagnosed when I was 7 years old. Now, I have an insulin pump:

This is my pump. It usually has a really ugly green silicone case on it, but wanted to show you what it actually looked like.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand; I've only cosplayed maybe once or twice, and each time I had a different placement for my pump; when I wore that Rainbow Dash dress to a convention last summer, it was hidden away under the dress (it was actually in my bra tbh) and when I did my Princess Luna Cosplay for Halloween; it was on my waist-per usual.

It's not that I am ashamed or embarrassed about my pump, it's just sometimes it doesn't-erm- look good with the Cosplay I'm using. In example, my Sailor Venus Cosplay:

You can't see an insulin pump in that photo can you?! That's because I took it off so I could take the pic. With this particular Cosplay, there is no place I can currently place my pump with this on that doesn't look...weird or as if it doesn't belong. But, I have nothing to fear seeing as I can get something so I can hook up my pump to my thigh so that the Cosplay still looks good and you don't feel weird with the pump. There are always ways to interpret the pump into the cosplay as well, though sometimes that may not always be the case like with Sailor Venus. Some cosplays it might be really easy to just leave it on your waist and it'll look fine, meanwhile some of them might not; just be a little creative! My only advice to anyone out there who's looking for advice on how to Cosplay with an insulin pump is the following; find a way to strap it somewhere hidden or find a creative way to interpret the pump into the cosplay.

Thrift Store Finds & Cosplay progress

Hey there guys!

So this week it's March break for us in New-Brunswick, so Tuesday and yesterday I spent the day with my aunt and we went thrift shopping. I found a bunch of cosplay pieces and books within those two days:

I got these books:
- The Lord of the Rings trilogy
- The Hobbit
- Vittorio the Vampire (by Anne Rice)
- Pandora (by Anne Rice)
- Romeo and Juliet
- Alice's Adventures in Wonderland/ Through the Looking-Glass
- City of Ashes (from The Mortal Instruments series)

As you can probably tell by the title of the post, today I will be talking about my progress on my cosplays as well. Though I didn't mention it before, I am currently working on three cosplays:

Sailor Venus from Sailor Moon

Now, for Sailor Venus; I had bought the outfit from a vendor at Animaritme last summer-and it's been hanging in my closet ever since; waiting patiently for me to get a wig and shoes to complete the cosplay-

11th Doctor from Doctor Who &

Ahh! My glorious Doctor! So far, I found a blazer, a shirt & his red suspenders. All I am missing now is a red bow tie. I've found a pair of slacks that are up for debate; so I'll just have to wait and see.

Princess Cadence from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

I've had candybutt's wig since June 2014, and I finally found myself a dress for her! Though I'm not sure if I'll use the wig or not; I might buy another one that looks better. Besides my little wig issue all I am missing is a pair of shoes and a set of ears, wings and a horn.

Valentine's Day

Happy late Hearts and Hooves day, Everypony!

Ahem, I mean 'Happy late Valentine's Day, Everyone'...nah, I really meant Hearts and Hooves day :)
Anyway, I don't know about you guys, but I actually had an awesome day yesterday; I had two of my friends come over and hang out all day. We watched My Little Pony and talked and goofed off all day. To be honest, it didn't even feel like Valentine's Day; it felt like a typical Saturday!

Usually, on Valentine's Day, I would go on a rant about how I'm still single and am probably destined to be forever alone, blah blah blah... But this year,- yeah I'm still going to complain about the fact that I am single and forever alone, but I am not going to get all moody and depressed about it like I do every other year.

So, moral of the story is even if you were single this Hearts and Hooves day, it doesn't mean you will be single forever like me- haha, I'm kidding...or am I?- someday your prince/princess will come.

Hasbro should make a prequel movie to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Hey guys!

As you may or may not already know, I am a Brony. And my favorite character on the show is Princes Luna (Moon-butt is best pony!). Now personally, I've always been curious about how things were prior to Nightmare Moon; meaning prior to the pilot episode. That's one of the reason why one of my favorite episodes is "Princess Twilight Sparkle"; seeing as we get a little bit of an 'Equestrian History lesson' in my opinion. So, I then thought 'what if Hasbro made a movie going back to before Luna turned into Nightmare Moon? How about even before Luna and Celestia were crowned princesses of Equestria?' and thus I created a petition to try to make it happen! Animaritme 2014

Hey guys!
So, today I'm going to talk about the anime convention I went to this last summer; Animaritime 2014. I wanted to write this post like...seven months ago, but things got in the way and I just forgot about it.
I had a lot of fun during that weekend; I even met a few bronies that I actually still keep in touch with today. I even dressed as Rainbow Dash during the convention. So, if ever any of you guys are in the maritimes in late June; you should totally try to make it to Animaritime! Here are some pictures that I took during that weekend.

Leelah Alcorn

Hey Guys, I know I said the next post on here would be about Animaritime and that was like...seven months ago? Yeah, I forgot. Sorry :) (By the way, Happy late New Year/Holdays guys, hope yours were as awesome as mine)
Anyway, today I wanted to talk about Leelah Alcorn. Now, for those of you who may not know, Leelah was a 17 year-old transgender who committed suicide on December 28th. Now, this story really struck me when I first heard of it. Leelah posted a suicide note on Tumblr in which I read a few times, and it actually brought me close to tears. Now, this struck me because I myself am...I don't want to say 'bi-curious', but that's the only word I can really think of to describe my sexuality. (That or Pansexual...) anyway back to my point here; so because of my part in the LGBTQ community, it hurt me to think that this girl killed herself because her parents weren't okay with her being a girl and not the boy they had when she was born. So, because of Leelah's death, me and my friends did a day of silence (or at least we tried to) in her honor. We also wrote 'Rest in Power' on our wrists. Leelah was indeed an inspiration to many people-myself included who dedicated fan art to her, songs even. I myself wrote a poem and dedicated to her on Wattpad. (I'll add the link below for those of you who might be interested in reading it) It's tragic that Leelah had to end her life for people to try and change the way the LGBTQ community are treated. So, I guess the moral here is, if you are gay, lesbian, bi-whatever sexuality you may have- and are feeling suicidal or afraid to come out or are having issues with your loved ones supporting you, just know you are not alone and there is always someone to talk to!
