My Thoughts on 'The Lion Guard'

Hey all!
So, as you can probably tell by the title of this post, I'm going to be talking about the Lion King spin-off, 'The Lion Guard'.

*Keep in mind, I didn't actually WATCH the show, this is all based on clips and research and what I already know about The Lion King trilogy*

So, for those of you who don't know, I'm a HUGE Lion King fan-girl! I am obsessed with it; I know the words of the movies by heart (especially The Lion King II: Simbra's Pride), I can tell you the names of the actors for pretty much each character in the films, and know all the songs by heart (even the ones from the Broadway musical!). So, when I heard that Disney was going to release a spin-off, I was pretty happy, until I saw the synopsis:

So, from what I understood, it's basically the story of Kion, Simba and Nala's second-born cub who is given charge of 'The Lion Guard'. He is tasked with assembling members, but when he picks a variety of animals in lieu of lions, Simba disbands the group because he think that Kion thinks it's all a game and he isn't taking it seriously. It's only when Kion and his group of friends save Kiara (Kion's older sister) from an antelope stampede caused by hyenas, Simba then accepts them as the new Lion Guard. Disney also said that this is technically a mid-quel to Simba's Pride (because Kiara is a cub in the show and she's only a cub at the beginning of the movie).

*sighes* Alright. First of all, I am what you could call a 'Disney fan-theorist' (I basically come up with fan theories on stuff Disney never answered in the movies), and well, I'm a firm believer in Kopa. Who is Kopa you ask? Do you remember the cub at the end of the first Lion King movie?
This is Kopa. He is Simba and Nala's first-born son. He was never seen or mentioned in the movies, but he was the main character in a series of books called "The Lion King: Six New Adventures". ('Nala's Dare' was a really good one to be honest!)
Disney even denies Kopa's existence. They claim that the cub at the end of the first movie is in fact gender-less and they call him 'fluffy'. Now, I personally believe (along with many other fans) that the cub is really Kopa and that there is a very large gap between the end of the first movie, and the beginning of the second one. The most popular theory is that Zira (the villain in Simba's Pride) killed Kopa to ensure that Kovu (her 'son') would become the next king of the pridelands.
This is Zira
This is Kovu (as a cub)
Kovu as an adult
Anyway, so this is where I get confused. Is Kion Disney's way of saving their ass about Kopa? Is Kion replacing Kopa? (For the record, if he was replacing Kopa, shouldn't he be older than Kiara?)
And that's another thing. Kiara.
Kiara as a cub in Simba's Pride
Kiara as an adult in Simba's Pride
What the hell did they do to her?! She looked better in Simba's Pride in my opinion...

Oh Kiara. I thought she was so cute in Simba's Pride (a bit ditzy, but she still had a lot of strong points like her stubbornness, and her kind and caring nature). But one of the things I really liked about her was how she didn't care about being the next queen of the pridelands whatsoever. She could care less. But, in the Lion Guard, (from what I've seen at least) I feel as if Kiara is very out of character because of how much she cares about becoming queen. Plus the amount of sass coming from this 'new' Kiara is outrageous...knowing the character as well as I do, Kiara would NEVER be that sassy with anyone!

On another note, I am not fond of the animation. I don't like how it looks. I really prefer the animation style in Simba's Pride or even the original Lion King to this.
Simba, Nala and Kion in The Lion Guard
Simba, Nala and Kiara in Simba's Pride
Personally, I feel as if the color schemes are a bit off in The Lion Guard as compared to the films.

Another thing I wanted to talk about was the voices. Oh great kings of the past, the voices! In the films, Simba is voiced by Matthew Broderick
And Nala is voiced by Moira Kelly
In The Lion Guard, they are voiced by Rob Lowe and Gabrielle Union.

Now, I'm not saying they aren't talented actors, but they AREN'T SIMBA AND NALA! I'm sorry, but that's just like getting someone other than James Earl Jones to play Mufasa...oh wait...they did that too! (James Earl Jones plays Mufasa in 'Return of the Roar' and Gary Anthony Williams plays him in later episodes). Kiara's voice actress also changed. In Simba's Pride, young Kiara was played by Michelle Horn. In The Lion Guard, she is played by Eden Riegel. Again, not that these actor's aren't talented, but they aren't the characters that I (and many other fans) have grown up with and now love and cherish. The only original voice for a character up to date on The Lion Guard is Ernie Sabella who plays Pumbaa.
Although, it has been confirmed that Jason Marsden, Andy Dick and Lacey Chabert will be taking on their roles as Kovu, Nuka and Vitani in one of the episodes. (Though I find it odd that Jason Marsden would be voicing young Kovu when he was adult Kovu in Simba's Pride).
Nuka and Vitani in Simba's Pride
As much as I dislike what Disney is doing with The Lion Guard, I will probably end up trying to find the episode with Kovu, Vitani and Nuka in it, just to see if they mess up their characters too.

Anyway, that's all I have to say about The Lion Guard, so until next time guys!

I'M NOT DEAD!!! *update*

Hey all!

So, this post is just to let you guys know that I'm not dead; I just haven't updated in a while, and for that I'm really sorry! In my defence, I've been super busy.

Let's see, where to start?
Well, I just recently got accepted to university for early admission and I just recently got my learner's permit (after the fourth attempt at the damn test!), so that's kept me kind of busy. I've also been trying to work on my cosplays for a while now; (I've been mostly procrastinating though!) I'm working on a Hiro Hamada cosplay (from Disney's Big Hero 6)

and I want to make a 'Sci-twi' cosplay (From Friendship Games), but more on that later.

Basically, I just wanted to let you guys know that I am not dead, and I will try to make more posts from here on out (when I can at least!)

I can't guarantee that I am going to be able to update regularly, considering I am a senior and I have a lot of assignments and such that will be coming up in the near future...but I'll worry about those when they come nearer!

Anyway, that's all I have to say, so until next time guys!

Another bucking Pony hiatus!

This is my basic reaction to the news of another bucking pony hiatus.

Hey everyone,
So (I know, I'm posting a lot of pony stuff lately, but what can I say?! I'll try to post something different within my upcoming posts) I don't know if any of you are bronies/ if any of you heard that Hasbro was pulling yet another pony hiatus. They're going to be splitting the season in half (the last episode of the first half being last week's episode; 'Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?' Which was in retrospect a great way to end the first half of the season) and with Friebdship Games (the new Equestria Girls movie) coming out in September (October 13th for the Blu-Ray/DVD release) I have no idea when they will be showing the rest of season 5.
I personally don't know how I'm going to handle this hiatus (seeing as I almost died towards the end of the 'great pony hiatus of 2014/15'- as I like to call it)
Oh well, I suppose I will find something to do on Saturdays instead of watching ponies...
I seriously don't know what I am going to do now...write fanfiction? Draw some (crappy) fanart? Work on my cosplays? We'll see I guess...

Anyway, that's all I have to say for now so until next time guys!

My Little Pony: Friendship is magic Season 5 Episode 13: "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?"

Hey guys!
So, as you know it's Saturday today which means there was a new pony episode today (and if I'm right, it's the last one for a little while...) and it was a Luna-centered episode and all I can say is that I LOVED IT! It was truly an amazing episode. I loved how we saw more of Luna's personality and true emotions. we saw badass Luna, we saw caring Luna, we saw dreamscape Luna, we saw self-hating/guilty Luna...

I actually really liked seeing these different sides of Luna that the show never really explored until now (especially badass Luna and guilty Luna).

Supernatural (or OMFG DEAN IS SOOO HOT!!)

Hey guys!

So, I just recently started to watch 'Supernatural' (I'm not that far in; I'm still only on season one episode thirteen so...) My friend invited me over to her house a couple days ago for Netflix and a sleepover and we started watching 'Supernatural'. The funny part of this, is that my friend LOVES Sam, while I prefer Dean-meaning we don't have to fight over fictional characters!

So, up to date, I am loving the show; I am loving the legends that the show is bringing to life such as the windigos (or wendigos), bloody Mary, etc...

I guess I'm just a huge fan of legends, folklore and mythology; which makes sense considering the shows I like (Supernatural, Once Upon a Time, Merlin, Doctor Who, My Little Pony...) *There is actually a lot of mythology in My Little Pony believe it or not...*

So that's all for this post, I will talk to you guys later!

Update

Hey everyone!

So, this is just a little update on stuff going on in my life right now.

So to start, it is with great pride that I officially announce that I passed the 11th grade and will be starting my senior year of high school this upcoming September. (I know I really should have done this post like 3 weeks ago, but whatever!)

The only course I was really worried about was Math, but I passed with 67%; my mom is pretty proud of me at least. Considering I suck at Math...

In other news, I'm still writing stories; even have a few posted online. I'm still single if any of you really care about my love-life...

As you can probably tell, I've changed the title of this blog to 'Fangirling with Abi' (it sounds appropriate doesn't it?!) and played around with the template and the colors and all that jazz.

There really isn't much else that's changed since the last time I posted on here about my life I guess.

So that's really all there is to it...

This is SerenaTheMoonPony making an exit!

Also, just because I did change the background of this blog (and the fact that you can't see the whole image) here's what the new background is:

Equestria Girls: Friendship Games

Hey everyone!

So, as you can tell by the title of this post, I'm going to be talking about the new Equestria Girls movie called 'Friendship Games'. So, a minute and a half trailer for the film has been released (I think it was yesterday- which reminds me; happy  *late* Canada day to my fellow Canadians!) and I can honestly say I am super excited to see this movie!

In this movie, the students from Canterlot High are competing in an event called 'the friendship games' against Crystal Prep Academy. Turns out, the Twilight Sparkle of that world attends the rival school and will be competing against the humane 6. From what I saw in the trailer, it looks as if magic is- to quote Sunset Shimmer- 'popping up' at random points in time during the games.
The logo for the new movie

From what I can tell, this movie is NOT going to theaters (sadly), but instead will be premiering on Discovery Family on September 26th! (I'm assuming/hoping it will be uploaded on YouTube the same day).

I'm also hoping that they will release it on Blu-ray/DVD at some point in time as well. (I'm assuming they will seeing as it would most likely be profitable for Hasbro to do that!)

The trailer was amazing! I've watched and re-watched and re-watched it; to say I really enjoyed it would be a major understatement.
I.
LOVE.
IT! (The song in the background is super catchy!)

I seriously can't wait for September now (for Frienship Games AND to be able to start my Senior year of high school, but that's for another post)

Though one of my many questions include: will the dazzlings be in this movie? I mean, in Rainbow Rocks, we actually took the time to sort of reform Sunset Shimmer, will the sirens also get that opportunity?

Below, I found some images from the trailer.
I have this feeling there will be a lot more costume changes in this movie (more cosplay options for us!)
I'm loving Sunset Shimmer's outfit in this screenshot! (Then again, I just love Sunset Shimmer; she is an awesome character!)

I'm also loving the bad-ass-ness of the events (there was also some sort of obstacle course featuring archery; at least I think that's what it was...)
Am I the only one who's loving the uniforms at Crystal Prep?! Plus human Twilight is so cute! I'm gonna die of cuteness overload! (I think I just found my next cosplay project!)
Oh and for those of you who might be interested in watching the trailer if you haven't caught it yet, here it is!
I'm really excited to see this movie and hope some of my questions will be answered. Which reminds me, will Sunset Shimmer be using that magical book we saw in Rainbow Rocks in this movie? Will we even see Equestria in this one? Will Luna and Celestia ever look better than this? (Probably not, but a girl can dream, right?!) Anyways, I am done with this post and I will talk to you guys later!

This is AbiTheOtakuG- wait a minute, no it isn't. I don't know if you guys noticed, but I changed my username (actually, I just changed it today so you probably didn't notice) anyway, I changed it to SerenaTheMoonPony (seeing as that's my username on literally every other social media site I'm on.

So this is SerenaTheMoonPony making an exit!

Until next time!
